FAQs
BOTOX
What is BOTOX® cosmetic?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a neurotoxin that is injected by units from a syringe into the face to smooth fine lines and wrinkles. More units cause less movement. Less units cause more movement. A subtle, natural look is always achievable, whether you opt for some movement or little to no movement. Talk with your injector about what result is best for you.
Targeted injections of BOTOX® Cosmetic into facial tissue temporarily interrupt nerve signals to nearby muscles and relaxing them. With blocked nerve impulses, muscle contraction is reduced (temporarily) preventing dynamic wrinkles and giving facial skin a smoother, younger appearance. Even deep-set wrinkles can find some improvement.
Do you offer any other types/brands of neurotoxin?
Not at the moment. A few reasons why we only carry BOTOX® Cosmetic is because it is the most extensively studied neurotoxin on the market. The fact that it has over 20 years of published research and safety data makes all the difference and really establishes trust. BOTOX® Cosmetic is the only neurotoxin that is FDA approved to temporarily improve the appearance of three areas of the face: moderate to severe forehead lines, frown lines and crow’s feet in adults. Lastly, patients know it and trust it!
Is BOTOX® Cosmetic safe?
We understand why the word “toxin” gives people pause when they learn that BOTOX® Cosmetic is derived from Botulinum toxin A. But, just because Botox is a toxin, doesn’t mean it is toxic. BOTOX® Cosmetic is made from a purified form of Botulinum toxin A. It is reconstituted with a saline solution before it is injected, which means it is administered in concentrations far below harmful levels. That being said, any medical treatment can be dangerous in the wrong hands. You should trust your BOTOX® Cosmetic procedure to an experienced, responsible and certified injector. Remember it’s the skill, talent and experience of the injector that you are buying, not the product. Always make sure you do your homework and are putting yourself in a safe and certified environment to receive treatment.
Who can get Botox®?
In theory, most women are suitable for Botox® treatments, however, suitability and results can vary from client to client. Your injector will discuss your options and assess your candidacy with safety at the heart of all pre-treatment consultations. If you are pregnant or nursing, you are NOT a candidate to receive treatment. Please wait until after pregnancy and once fully through with nursing to receive treatment. You will also want to inform us of anything else that may hinder your cosmetic results, including:
– any medications you are taking, including vitamins and supplements
– any known allergies
– if you have an infection in the proposed area
– have some muscle/skeletal disorders (for your safety, please disclose all medical conditions to your clinician prior to treatment)
– are undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy
– have double vision
Sometimes, people find that they do not meet the requirements to be a BOTOX® Cosmetic patient. If this is the case, our team may recommend other skin care treatments to help you get the youthful appearance you’re hoping to achieve.
How long does Botox® last?
It’s important not to allow BOTOX® Cosmetic to wear off completely. This is because the muscles will start contracting again causing progression of the line or wrinkle. We like to build off the last treatment results and not have to reteach the muscle. Because BOTOX® Cosmetic is a temporary procedure the results will most likely last 2.5-3.5 months. It is important for you to keep up your appointment schedule to maintain your results. For this reason, we highly recommend you schedule your next appointment before you leave.
Filler
What is Bio-Filler?
Bio-filler is a cosmetic treatment that uses a patient’s own blood to create an injectable gel that restores volume and rejuvenates the skin. A centrifuge spins the patient’s blood to separate out platelet rich fibrin, which is then used to create the injectable gel.
What are the benefits of Bio-Filler?
Bio filler can smooth wrinkles and fine lines, restore volume to the face, neck and hands, promote the production of new skin cells and collagen and can contour facial features. The initial results typically last a few weeks, but long-term effects like collagen production and skin tightening can last up to 6 months or longer.
Is Bio Filler safe?
Bio-Filler is a natural alternative to hyaluronic acid dermal fillers and is less likely to cause allergic reactions and vascular occlusions.
Microneedling
What is microneedling with PRF?
Microneedling is a popular cosmetic procedure that uses 12 sterilized microneedles to micropuncture the skin, resulting in increased collagen production. Microneedling should not be a painful process, but it may cause some discomfort when not done properly. Microneedling with PRF is a simple procedure in which we extract a sample of your blood to process your PRF, which we then apply to your facial skin. Next, we use DermaPen to puncture your skin using a vibrating stamp-like motion, allowing the PRF to penetrate deeper into your skin. Microneedling and PRF are highly effective treatments individually, but combining them creates a powerful solution to a variety of skin issues.
What are the benefits of Microneedling with PRF?
Microneedling with PRF carries several benefits for people who desire to have a natural-looking, rejuvenated complexion without undergoing extremely invasive procedures. Benefits include:
– Improved skin color, texture, tone and visible pores
– Reduced wrinkles, fine lines, dark/ sunspots, and scars
– Increased collagen production
– Improved skin health and appearance (including rosacea)
– Restored hair volume
What should I expect after a Microneedling with PRF treatment?
After your PRF Microneedling treatment, you will immediately experience skin tightness. You may also experience skin redness similar to a mild sunburn for 1-2 days. Nevertheless, the PRF will drastically enhance your body’s natural regenerative proteins and growth factors, so expect improvement within the next 3 days. Your recovery time will depend on your skin color and condition, but you may fully heal within 24 hours post-therapy, especially if you follow an appropriate post-treatment skin care routine.
